In ballet, there are five basic positions of the feet. Each position has a foot position and a corresponding arm position. Which of the five basic foot positions do you find to be the most challenging? Share with others that one particular position that seems to be harder to achieve than the other four. What makes it harder than the others? Share Your Reason

Great!

My friend taught me this this morning, I forgot. This helped me a lot to learn the positions. Thank you!

Help!

I want to start ballet, but I'm 14. Can anybody help me and show me how to do ballet and stretch? It'll help me out a lot. Please and thank you.

Arabesque

I think the arabesque is the hardest because you have to put your leg up so high, but I will do it.

Dance lover

I love to dance. It is a lot of fun and it is a great exercise. A lot of people think dance is stupid but it's not. It's exteremly fun!

Dance lover

Dance is a lot of fun and the best part is that you can start at any age. I have danced since I was three and I am now 10. It is a lot of fun. People should really try it.

Fifth position

In class you're taught exercises that make fifth position easier to learn so your body falls into it - they're called turnout exercises.

Ballet

I am 14 and I have been doing ballet for many, many years, since I was 4. I am now doing my Intermediate and I know girls who are just joining my ballet class, so it's not too late to start ballet. The only thing is I would recommend not starting pointe work until your feet have been properly trained.

Oh my...

They're all pretty easy since I've been practicing them for a few years but if I had to pick one, I'd definitely say either 3rd or 5th, probably 5th.

Sixth Position

The 6th position is when your feet are parellel to the front.

Ballet

I need to be able to do basic ballet to get into dance academy and I don't have time to go to a class. Should I just learn from the computer or what?

I'm interested.

I'm interested in ballet and I can't stop thinking about it. I'm kind of embarassed to talk about it with people because I seem all hardy to them but I really want to try. Would I still be able to start because I'm 10 (turning 11)?

I want to learn

I have never done this but I pick things up from films. I need more info!

Starting ballet

I am very interested and love ballet, but I could not...now I am 27. Do I still have the chance of starting ballet?
