From the article: Tips for Buying Ballet Slippers
Some dancers say canvas ballet shoes are more comfortable, but some prefer the feel of leather. Some like canvas shoes because they fit more snugly and are easier to dance in, but leather shoes last longer.

- Before purchasing ballet slippers for a beginner, check with the dance studio for their preference. RAD students, for example, require full soled leather slippers.

Canvas for days!
- I have used both but canvas is so much easier to use than leather! Leather ones makes your feet look chunky and don't give you great arches! Canvas is harder to clean yes, but so worth it (and they don't hurt your achilles.) My favorites are Bloch Pro Elastic Split Sole canvas ballet slippers! They are amazing! Canvas forever baby!

Canvas
- Canvas is the best. When I started ballet I had leather with a full sole and the day I got my canvas split sole everything was so much easier and my feet looked way better.

Leather and Canvas?
- I would choose leather full-sole to make my feet stronger, but canvas is a whole lot easier to do everything in ballet.

Canvas
- Canvas is better; your feet move easier, and it's not as uncomfortable as leather.

Canvas for sure!
- When I first started out I started with leather shoes. They were just really clunky and it was a little hard to point your toes. but i just love the canvas ones because they mold to your feet a lot faster and if you get the kind where you have to sew the straps I think those work the best.

Canvas
- I prefer canvas shoes for many reasons. They're cheaper, breathe better, and are much easier to wash than leather. The shoes themselves are also more flexible. But my favorite part about canvas is that excepting the possible suede sole, they are not made from an animal!

Canvas
- Canvas ballet shoes are so much better. They mold to your feet a lot better plus they look better than leather. I have a split sole canvas ballet shoe from Grishko and another pair from Bloch. I love them both!

Was a leather but now a canvas
- In general, canvas looks better on your foot while leather makes your foot look chunky. Canvas shoes make it look like you have higher arches, too:)

leather
- Leather, always has been- and for a beginner, a full sole to help build strength in the foot. Leather is longer-lasting, and it's rewarding if it fits well as it will really form to your foot after repeated wear. I wear a Bloch Elastosplit in leather.

Leather
- Leather shoes are more comfortable and easier to clean. I really enjoy them in class. No problems. Go leather!

CANVAS
- I definitely love canvas. They mold to your feet, they are like and flexible, the split sole is amazing, and even if they wear out faster your teacher will tell you you are pointing your feet much better. Leather is hard, unworkable, restraining, heavy, and don't look nice at all. For people with strong feet and flexible arches I recommend canvas because they will show off your beautiful feet much more than leather will, and for people with lower arches/UNflexible feet I certainly recommend canvas to you even more because they will be much easier on your feet and give you a wonderful pointed line.
