What to Take to Your Wedding Dance Lessons

By , About.com Guide

Your wedding is a couple of months away. You and your partner have been taking group dance lessons and practicing your moves for your wedding dance over the past few months. Now you are about to begin your formal wedding dance lessons with a choreographer. Before you walk out the door for your first class, take a look at the following items that may come in handy:
  • Shoes: Don't wear just any shoes...wear the shoes you plan to wear during your wedding dance. Dancing in sneakers is much different than dancing in high heels. Depending on the style, you may need time and practice to learn how to dance in your shoes.

  • Underskirt: You may need time to learn how to dance while wearing your underskirt, or petticoat. Depending on its fullness, you and your partner may need to make adjustments during certain turns or dips.

  • Music: If you have a certain song picked out for your dance, take it with you. While most dance instructors have a nice selection of music, there's a chance they may not have the one you want.

  • Patience: This may be the most important item on the list, especially if your partner is not quite the dancer that you are. Learning how to dance together can be challenging. Try not to become frustrated if your partner twirls you the wrong way or steps on your toes. Stay relaxed and keep it fun...with a little practice you will be in sync in time for your big day.
