If you tend to have tightness through your hips, try adding a hip stretch to your jazz warm-up routine. The hip flexors are a group of muscles that move the hips forward when running and walking. Maintaining flexibility in the hips will help to prevent injury. Try the following exercise to stretch your hip flexors.

  • Stand in second position with both feet turned out to the sides.
  • With straight legs, reach your arms out to the sides.
  • Spread your fingers into jazz hands, with your palms facing the front.
