Guide Review - Movie Review: Saturday Night Fever
Danny agrees to enter a dance competition with a girlfriend, but changes his mind when he sees Stephanie at the disco club. Stephanie is a tall, beautiful, talented dancer, who works for a magazine publisher in Manhattan. Tony thinks he'll have a better chance of winning the competition if he dances with Stephanie. She refuses his offer at first, but then agrees to enter the contest as his partner.
At the competition, Danny and Stephanie finish their dance to great applause from the crowd. However, the last couple to dance is much better than they were and everyone knows it. When Danny and Stephanie are awarded with first place, an angry Tony grabs the trophy from Stephanie and gives it to the other couple, telling them that they really deserved to win. Tony suddenly realizes that his immaturity will never get him anywhere in life...he mkes a pass at Stephanie out of anger, who refuses him. He then rides away with his young, immature friends.
After a night of riding the subway alone and contemplating his future, Tony shows up at Stephanie's door and apologizes. She accepts his apology and the two decide to try again, first as friends. They both realize that with each other's help, they can each realize their dreams of making it big in the big city.
