Definition: A dramatic movement in which a dancer extends one leg and arches the back at the same time. This is an advanced move and takes a lot of strength and coordination.

To many people, the layout is the jazz move of all jazz moves. It is sometimes difficult to master, requiring great strength and flexibility.
