Stag leap

Tracy Wicklund
A stag leap is a jazz step that can be performed with your back leg bent or extended straight behind you. Stag leaps are often performed immediately after a turn such as a chaine.

To perform a stag leap, stand with your feet together. Bend your knees then jump into the air, bending both legs at the knee. Try to wrap your back leg around your body, with your knee parallel to the floor, as in attitude. Point your front toe down to the floor beneath you.

As you leap into the air, lift your arms over your head into a V position. Your arms will help you lift high into the air help you remain in the air longer.
